Review a return a colleague prepared

The second pair of eyes is not a formality here. The app refuses to let one person both prepare a return and review it, and it refuses at the moment you press the button rather than saving it up for the end.

Steps

1. On Filings, find a return whose Prepared column reads Recorded.
2. Read it. Reviewing is the act the word describes; the button only records that somebody did it.
3. Press I reviewed it. Like the first stamp it records you and asks nothing.
4. If you are the person who prepared it, the app refuses there and then, and says so. If nobody has prepared it yet, it refuses that too — a review with nothing under it is not a review.
5. The Reviewed column changes to Recorded, and the return is ready to go to the authority.

The rule is checked again on the way out, read back off the two records rather than taken from a status word — so a return that reached this state by some other route still cannot leave the practice on one person’s name.
