Plan a year by account, and read the ledger beside it
A budget here is a plan per account per month, with what actually happened shown next to it. What you planned to spend and earn, by account, for a financial year.
You need
accounting.budgets.readaccounting.budgets.createaccounting.budgets.update
Steps
- Open Budgets and press New budget.
- Give it a Budget name and the Financial year it covers, then save.
- Press Open on it, then Add a line for each line you want to plan: an Account, a Month and the Planned figure.
This budget has no lines yet. Add an account and a month, and the ledger will be shown beside it.
- Read Actual and Difference beside each line.
Actual is what has been POSTED to that account in that month. Drafts are not counted, and a voided entry is not counted twice.
- Planned for the year sums the plan. Use Edit budget to revise a line and Remove to drop one.
Nothing here posts to the ledger — a budget is read against the books and never written into them.
