Look up the tax rates these books apply

This screen tells you which rates your documents are taxed at and where they come from. It changes nothing, and it files nothing.

You need

  • accounting.tax.read

Steps

  1. Open Tax. The tax rates in force for this business, and where each one comes from.
  2. Read Rates in force: each rate’s Name, its Rate key, its Rate and which is the Default. Applied by the ledger itself. These are not settings and cannot be changed here.
  3. Under Where these come from you get what the tax is Called here, the Tax number label, how often Returns filed are due, and under Other rules whether Reverse charge on cross-border services and whether Withholding tax exists here.
  4. Do not look here for a return. SISC shows the rates it applies to your documents. It does not yet work out what you owe for a period or produce a return, so nothing on this screen is a filing.
  5. For the figures over a period, go to Reports and open its tax return summary — it adds up what your documents were taxed, which is a reading of your books rather than a filing.

A blank screen has one of two meanings, and both are about the country rather than about this screen: Nothing is added to your documents. If that is wrong for your business, it is the country rules that need correcting, not this screen. Or, if nobody has said where the business trades: Nobody has told SISC which country this business files in, so no tax rules can be shown. Set the country on the company profile — until then, do not read anything on this screen as your tax position.
