Send text messages from your own phone
Appointment reminders can go out as text messages from an Android phone your company owns. Messages are sent from your own phone, so your mobile plan’s charges apply.
You need
platform.email.updateplatform.email.send
Steps
- On an Android phone with a SIM card, install the SMSGate app (“SMS Gateway for Android”).
- In the app, switch on the cloud server and connect; the app then shows a username and password. If your company runs its own SMSGate server, point the app at that server instead.
- Open Company settings and choose the SMS tab, beside Email settings. Choose cloud or private, and copy the username and password from the app.
- Optionally, set the same encryption passphrase on the tab and in the app, so message text and numbers are encrypted before they leave the server.
- Switch sending on, choose which kinds of message may be sent, and send a test message to your own mobile number. Keep the phone charged and online.
Arabic text and emoji fit fewer characters into one message than plain Latin text; the tab counts the messages for you as you type. Marketing texts are sent only once marketing sending is enabled and the contact has recorded consent.
