Every screen and control named on this page is checked against the product at build time. If a name here does not match your screen, your workspace is on an older release.

Approve or turn down a leave request

Approving is a permission of its own, separate from being able to book. This is the screen where it is exercised, and the balances are on it so the decision is made against the days rather than against a memory of them.

You need

  • hr.leave.approve

Steps

  1. Open Leave. A request marked Awaiting approval carries Approve and Reject at the end of its row; if neither is there, you do not hold the permission that decides.
  2. Read Balances this leave year first. It gives Earned, Carried over, Taken, Awaiting approval and Remaining per person and per type — and days awaiting approval are already taken off what remains, so the figure you see is the figure the guard used.
  3. Press Approve to decide it there and then. Nothing else is asked for.
  4. Reject opens a box for a Reason and will not go through without one: A rejection must say why. The person is told what you wrote.
  5. Cancel leave withdraws a request that is still Awaiting approval or already Approved and gives the days back. Anything further along refuses: Only leave that is awaiting approval or approved can be cancelled.
  6. A request cannot be decided twice, whoever gets there second: This leave request has already been decided.

How many days a year somebody is entitled to is not settled on this screen. Annual leave here at the top states what the country pack stamped on your business says — and where it says nothing: This country sets no statutory minimum for paid annual leave, so your own policy decides it.
