Book time off for somebody
A leave request is dates, a type and a person. What it costs in days is not typed in — it is counted from the working week and the holiday calendar, so the same fortnight is a different number of days in two countries.
You need
hr.leave.create
Steps
- Open Leave and press New leave request.
- Choose the person under Employee and then the Type. If that list is empty, no leave type has been set up for this business yet and nothing can be booked until one is.
- Give First day and Last day. The Days on the row afterwards are working days only: rest days and public holidays inside the range are not counted, and a range made of nothing else is refused outright —
Those dates contain no days to take — every one is a rest day or a holiday.
- Reason is optional when booking. It is not optional when turning one down.
- Press Create. The request appears in the list as Awaiting approval and waits for somebody who may approve it.
- Two refusals are worth knowing before you book rather than after:
This employee already has leave over those dates.
And:This request is more than the days this person has left. Check their balance first.
This month on the same screen shades this month’s rest days and holidays — Rest days come from your country settings, not from a fixed Saturday and Sunday.
With no holidays loaded it says so rather than showing a month that looks entirely workable: No holiday calendar is configured, so only rest days are shown. Add your public holidays so leave is costed against the days people actually work.
