Copy a document instead of typing it again
Duplicate makes a new invoice, bill, sales order or purchase order from an existing one, without touching the original.
Steps
- Open the document and press Duplicate on its toolbar: on the invoice drawer, among a bill’s row actions, or on a sales order’s or purchase order’s drawer.
- A sales order or purchase order becomes a stored draft with no number, dated today, with its due date kept at the same distance as before.
- An invoice or a bill opens as a new, unsaved form filled in from the original, because those have no draft state: nothing is stored, numbered or posted until you issue it. A bill’s supplier reference is left blank.
- Check the prices before you go on. They are copied from the original, and the screen says so.
The copy keeps a note of the document it was copied from, and the original’s history records the copy. Purchase orders from Materials and Hotel have no Duplicate button; the Business Suite screen has.
