Connect your Egyptian company to ETA e-invoicing

In Egypt an invoice or credit note counts only once the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) has validated it. These are the things your company has to do itself before SISC Suite can submit its documents.

You need

  • accounting.einvoicing.update

Steps

  1. Register on ETA’s e-invoicing portal and register your ERP system there. ETA gives you a client ID and a client secret for it. Start in ETA’s preproduction (test) environment.
  2. Register the codes of what you sell — your own EGS codes in the ETA portal, or GS1 barcodes. Then open App settings, choose E-invoicing (ETA) and add each code. ETA accepts only codes your company has registered: EGS codes you registered on the ETA portal, or GS1 barcodes. Each invoice line is sent with one of them.
  3. Get an e-seal certificate on a token or an HSM from an approved Egyptian certificate authority, and run a signing server beside it. ETA requires every document to be signed with your company's e-seal, issued by an approved Egyptian certificate authority and held on a token or HSM — never on this server. Point SISC Suite at the signing server you run beside it: SISC Suite sends it the document's canonical text and submits the signature it returns.
  4. On the same page fill in ETA environment, Tax registration number (RIN), Activity code, Branch ID, the branch address, Client ID, Client secret, Signing server address and Signing server key, then press Save. If you start in preproduction, ask SISC Suite support to trust ETA’s preproduction certificate first.
  5. Press Test connection. It only signs in to ETA: nothing is signed and nothing is sent. When it passes, tick Submit this company's documents to ETA and save again.
  6. Open an invoice in Invoices, choose a registered code for every line, and press Submit to ETA. The invoice can be downloaded and emailed once ETA has validated it in production.

SISC Suite connects to ETA through ETA's published API. It is not an ETA-certified or ETA-approved product, and it has not yet been run against a live ETA account. Preproduction is ETA's test environment. Nothing validated there is a legal invoice.
