Sell on account, and take the payment later

A customer who will pay later takes the goods now and the amount goes on their account. Unpaid accounts lists everyone who still owes, and a payment — part or all — takes it down.

You need

  • pos.accounts.read

Steps

  1. An administrator switches sales on account on in the company’s Point of Sale settings, with a default credit limit if the shop wants one. It is off until somebody switches it on.
  2. At Terminal, choose the customer — or add them by name — then take payment and put the remainder on their account. Part can be paid in cash now and the rest put on account. The receipt says it is not paid.
  3. Open Unpaid accounts: every customer who owes, how much in each currency, and since when. Open a customer to see the sales behind the balance.
  4. Use Receive payment for any amount, or Whole balance. A part payment leaves the rest owed; a full payment takes the customer off the list, and their history stays — Show settled brings them back into view.

Selling on account needs pos.accounts.sell, taking a payment pos.accounts.receive, and setting a customer’s credit limit pos.accounts.limit. Every payment prints a slip, and on the shift’s Z report sales on account and payments received are their own lines, never cash.
