Set up a new till

A register is the physical till: the place a shift is opened and a drawer is counted. Nothing can be sold until at least one exists.

You need

• pos.registers.create

Steps

1. Open Registers and press New register.
2. Give it the Name the people on the shop floor actually use, and a Location if you trade from more than one place.
3. Save. The list shows each till’s Shift — Open or Closed — so you can see at a glance who is trading.
4. On the machine itself, Terminal asks Which register is this? the first time. Pick the one in front of you.

A till you no longer use is made Inactive; it cannot be removed while a shift is open on it, because money would be left recorded against a register nobody can close. The printer, the drawer and the scale are not company settings — they are Till hardware, set on the machine: These settings belong to this machine, not to your company. Each till is set up on its own.
