Take cash out of the drawer, or put more in

A float top-up, a supplier paid out of the till, a drop to the safe: money moves through the drawer without a sale, and the count at close will not balance unless the till is told.

Steps

1. Open the shift on Shifts and find Cash in and out.
2. Choose the Direction — Cash in or Cash out.
3. Enter the Amount as a positive figure. Money leaving is recorded by its direction, never by a minus sign.
4. Give a Reason. It is required, and it is all that somebody reading the shift back a week later will have to go on.
5. Press Record movement. Total in, Total out and Net movement update, and the close counts them into what it expects to find.

A movement belongs to a shift that is still open: This shift has been closed, so no more money can move through its drawer. Open a new shift first.
