Take a café order at the counter

An order that sits on no table: taken at the counter, sent to the kitchen, and called out by its number when it is ready.

You need

• pos.kitchen.read
• pos.sales.create

Steps

1. Open Counter orders and press New order. It needs an open shift on this till — Open a shift and count the float in.
2. Type the customer’s name if you want to call it out, or leave it blank, and press Start order. The order opens straight away.
3. Add what they ordered with Add to order, send it to the kitchen, and take the money with Pay on the same order.
4. The Pickup board shows the numbers being made and the numbers ready, large enough to read across the room. When the customer collects theirs, press Collected.

An order you have started and not finished waits under Open orders, to add to or take payment for later. The cooks see it on Kitchen display.
