Every screen and control named on this page is checked against the product at build time. If a name here does not match your screen, your workspace is on an older release.

Add a product so it scans at the till

What the till can sell is what is on the product list. A product needs a name and a price; the barcode is what makes it scan.

You need

• pos.products.create

Steps

1. Open Products and press New product.
2. Give it a Name, a SKU and the Barcode printed on the packet. The barcode is what Terminal matches when the scanner beeps.
3. Set the Price, the Cost you pay for it and its Tax rate. The rates offered are the ones your company’s country declares.
4. Set Sold by: one at a time, or by weight for something that goes on a scale.
5. Put it in a Category so it is quick to find on the till; categories are kept on Categories.

A line you no longer sell is made Inactive rather than deleted, so its barcode cannot be claimed by something else and old receipts still make sense. What each product costs and earns is on Pricing.
